A new report from Politico says that no major publishers in the United States have been willing to publish Donald Trump's memoirs about his time as President, but Trump insists that he's already turned down offers for a book. Industry sources say they don't believe this, and Politico pointed out that publishers don't like working with Trump because he's burned them on book offers in the past. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

Politico recently reported that Donald Trump is having a hard time finding any publisher in the United States, willing to publish his memoir about his time serving as president of the United States. Now, shortly after Politico came out with this report, Donald Trump came out and he said, nope, I've actually turned down two book deals. Okay. Two people came up to me and I said, no, I'm not giving you my book. And Politico then talked to insiders in the publishing industry and they laughed at him. They mocked him because they said, no. I mean, you know, we, we're all pretty tight knit group here. We know that nobody's offered him a book deal. One of them even said maybe it was some publisher out in Zimbabwe. Maybe it was just some random person that walked up and said, I'll give you a hundred dollars to write a book. But it sure as hell didn't come from a major publisher here in the United States. And I gotta tell you, this isn't surprising. We all know that anytime a president leaves office, they can write a book.

It's going to be a best-seller. Hell, any member of Congress, regardless of party, you can write a book and it's going to be a best-seller. You know, because by the way, if it's not a best-seller on its own, what they do is they get their campaigns to buy up a lot of these. You have all these other outside groups that will purchase these massive bulk orders, thousands and thousands of the books, so they can give away to people. It's a tax write off for them, it immediately boosts the book to best-seller status. That's what happens with a lot of these individuals. So yes, the Trump book would in fact, make a lot of money. It could also end up costing publishers even more money. Can you imagine the fact checking nightmare that would be going through Donald Trump's book? You know, having to take out anything that could be considered slanderous or libelous.

My God, that entire book, if it ever got published would be a walking lawsuit waiting to happen. And no publisher wants to take that risk no matter what reward might come on the front end of it. Not to mention, as some of the publishers also said, Donald Trump has burned them on books in the past. You know, they get a deal with him, he doesn't deliver. So why would we go back to that same well, knowing that we've been burned far too many times in the past, and of course, the underlying threat of all the libel lawsuits that would result from it. Trump will eventually, by the way, land the book deal. I have no doubt about that. Even if he has to self-publish the dang thing. It's going to be filled with errors. It's going to be filled with things that are probably going to get him sued. But by God, he's going to get that book out and of course it'll be a best-seller. Somebody will make a lot of money and then they'd better pray that the lawsuits don't immediately get filed.
