Fairytale Princesses have long been criticised for giving children bad role models but now new research has found the opposite. Stephanie Hill says more diversity was needed earlier but children are able to distinguish between fantasy and reality and they can take away lessons from the princesses but Ateh Jewel highlights the importance of children feeling seen despite not fitting into Stephanie's beautiful mould. So are characters like Sleeping Beauty, Frozen’s Elsa and Moana good for children, are they good role models?
