At least three people were found dead in a forest fire in southern Turkey as authorities battled multiple blazes along its coasts for a second day amid suspicions of arson.

Footage filmed by local TV channel Kanal V, showed distressed residents sifting through charred charred homes.

"I lost everything. My car has burnt. I couldn't save anything. The fire broke out very quickly. We had to flee and this is what we came back to,," one of them said.

Officials have said that more than 40 wildfires have erupted across 13 provinces, namely on Turkey's Aegean and Mediterranean coasts this week, with the presidency vowing to hold to account those responsible for the "attacks".

Of those wildfires, 31 have been contained, but firefighting efforts for the remaining 10 continue, with more than 140 people being evacuated, requiring treatment or suffering property damage, according to AFAD.
