Edwina Currie explains the reasoning behind the high prices of PCR tests for traveling abroad and says Ministers are watching the price of Covid tests. She adds that if people don't want to pay the high prices, they should consider holidaying in the UK. Gabriela Brewer, who runs a government recommended Covid testing clinic says 'margins are very tight due to expensive lab costs to process the samples.' Travel expert Paul Charles believes 'there's been a lack of oversight and regulation by government'. He says it's 'unethical' for some providers to be 'charging and making profits in excess of 30% during a pandemic'. Dr Amir Khan says PCR testing is still essential because some are sent off to other labs for genome testing to check for variants from other countries.
