In a September 13 appearance on CNN, Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) discussed how she was fortunate that her doctors caught her Stage 1A breast cancer early but stressed that she had waited a year to have a mammogram because of the pandemic — similar to how many others are delaying doctor's appointments and exams currently. 'A lot of people are waiting; they think thousands of women have undetected breast cancer right now,' Klobuchar said. She encouraged viewers to go for their physicals and routine examinations, saying, 'It saved my life, and it can save many others.'

In a post on Medium last week, Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) spoke on how a mammogram in February 2021 detected that she had Stage 1A breast cancer. She revealed that she had undergone a lumpectomy procedure on her right breast at the Mayo Clinic soon after and completed a course of radiation treatment in May.
