Boris Johnson gives reshuffled Cabinet 'half-time pep talk'

Boris Johnson has given his overhauled Cabinet a "half-time pep talk", and called on them to work together in delivering key manifesto pledges.

The Prime Minister said "I know that delivery normally involves a superhuman effort by at least one person in the room, but there are plenty of other people in that room who are absolutely indispensable to that successful outcome."

Mr Johnson referred to the meeting as a "half-time pep talk", which further fuel suggestions that Downing Street is gearing up for an election as early as May 2023, after newly-promoted Party chairman Oliver Dowden told backbenchers they should start preparing now.
