AERIAL pictures reveal devastation left behind after a giant explosion tore through a residential street.

Emergency crews were scrambled at around 7.10pm on Monday evening after a suspected gas blast, with two adults and two children hospitalised.

It is not yet known if there are any fatalities from the horror explosion in Gorse Park in Ayr, Scotland.

Shocking pictures show a mountain of devastation after the blast tore through four houses.

Wood, glass, bricks and personal belongings are strewn across the street, gardens and surrounding areas.

The roof of one house has caved in completely.

A local resident said the home had been left "completely flattened" and that "the whole street is a wreck".

Photos shared earlier on social media showed a gap in a row of houses, where it is understood the explosion originated.
