Rivers of lava poured from Cumbre Vieja volcano on the Spanish island of La Palma on Wednesday over a month since the eruption started on Sept. 19.

The eruption activity at La Palma’s Cumbre Vieja volcano shows no signs of slowing, with video from Tuesday documenting rivers of lava flowing across the island.

By Sunday, at least 1,956 structures had been destroyed by lava flows covering 811.8 hectares (3.1 square miles), according to the European Union’s Copernicus satellite program.

Video showed lava approaching partially destroyed buildings and pouring into a water tank.

More than 6,000 people have had to leave their homes.
