Skills for every young person | House of Lords committee calls on government to act

Urgent action is needed to tackle and prevent youth unemployment, says a new #HouseofLords committee report published today, 26 November 2021.

The Lords Youth Unemployment Committee heard from young people across the country and is now calling on the government to act, making recommendations that include:

✏️ Creating a national plan for tackling skills shortages
✏️ Recalibrating the national curriculum and school progress indicators
✏️ Appointing a Young People's Commissioner to be the voice of youth aged 16 to 24
✏️ A new system to tackle long-term underfunding of Further Education
✏️ Making careers education compulsory in the school curriculum
✏️ An Education and Workplace Race Equality strategy to tackle discrimination.
