Jury selection is set to begin Tuesday in the manslaughter trial of a former Minnesota police officer who fatally shot a Black man while yelling "Taser" during a traffic-stop-turned-arrest earlier this year.

Kim Potter is charged with first and second-degree manslaughter in the death of Daunte Wright, 20, on April 11 in the Minneapolis suburb of Brooklyn Center. Potter was a 26-year veteran of the Brooklyn Center Police Department, and the police chief resigned two days later.

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison is prosecuting the case. Potter is being represented by attorneys Earl Gray and Paul Engh. Gray also represents a former Minneapolis police officer charged in the death of George Floyd and previously represented an officer who fatally shot Philando Castile during a traffic stop outside St. Paul.

Civil rights attorney Ben Crump is representing Wright's family.
