Even before Donald Trump appeared to admit to obstruction of justice during a Fox News interview, his niece, Mary Trump, did an interview where she said that Attorney General Merrick Garland was an "idiot" for not prosecuting her uncle. She's right. There's no excuse for investigations to not be immediately launched into so very many of Trump's activities from when he was in office, but Garland doesn't seem to care one bit about any of that. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

Over the weekend during an interview on Fox news, Donald Trump openly admitted to what basically amounts to obstruction of justice when he said that he did in fact fire James Comey as FBI director, so that he could quote, survive four years in office because he said, didn't think he would make it out if Comey was still the director of the FBI. So yeah, pretty much obstruction of justice, no matter which way you slice it. But even before that interview aired, that interview aired, on Friday, Mary Trump, Donald Trump's niece did an interview on the Dean Obeidallah Show where she said that Merrick Garland is essentially an idiot for not going after Donald Trump and prosecuting him. Here is what she said. I have something to say to you then Mr. Garland, you think it's not a political decision not to pursue, not to investigate the second worst insurrection in US history. I mean, that's not a political decision and the fact that he doesn't understand that or that he doesn't care or that he's an institutionalist because apparently that gives you free license to be an idiot. I don't know.

There are many different things that the US Department of Justice could be investigating Donald Trump for. Obstruction of justice even prior to this Fox news interview was in fact one of them. The Mueller report did list at least 10 different instances where it was believed that Trump and his administration committed obstruction of justice. We also have, as Mary Trump pointed out, the insurrection, Donald Trump's message to the would be Capitol rioters at that Stop the Steal rally, telling them if you don't fight like hell, you're not gonna have a country anymore. That language likely rises to the level of sedition and at the very least warrants an investigation. We already have investigations taking place into Donald Trump's, Trump's activities in Georgia, you know, for potential election interference. We have them going on in New York. We have them going on in Scotland. There are investigations all over the place involving various aspects of Donald Trump's professional and personal life. But none of them are taking place at the highest level here in the United States with the US Department of Justice.

And again, the evidence at this point is becoming overwhelming. The guy is openly out there admitting it in Fox news interviews that yeah, I fired him so he wouldn't investigate me. So what? And he's able to do that, he's able to go out there and boast about these things because he knows nothing's gonna happen to him. He knows that Merrick Garland is weak. Merrick Garland is afraid. Merrick Garland is doing the same crap that Eric Holder did in the early days of the Obama administration, when he refused to prosecute or even investigate any of the potential war crimes, especially torture from the previous Bush administration. They told us they wanted to look forward instead of backwards. Those individuals were not held accountable and it helped to create the situation that we are in today. Merrick Garland through his inaction is setting up something far worse than Trump. And that far worse thing may even be Trump 2.0 in 2024. But Merrick Garland does have the authority to likely put an end to all of that by launching these investigations.
