Photographer Bill Cunningham Honored in New York City

Published on 6 Jul 2016, 21:33
The northeast corner of Fifth Avenue and 57th Street in New York City where famed photog Bill Cunningham parked himself almost every day to photograph people has been temporarily named in his honor. A week after more than 6,000 friends and fans signed a petition asking city Mayor Bill de Blasio to honor Cunningham on the city’s streets, First Lady Chirlane McCray helped unveil the commemorative street sign on Wednesday afternoon. Friends of Cunningham, who passed away on June 25 at the age of 87, say that a more permanent monument in his honor is currently underway.
