Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman Moved To New Prison Near Texas

Published on 7 May 2016, 21:36
Mexican drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzmán was transferred Saturday to a prison near the Texas border. Guzmán was captured in January, but he has famously broken out of prison twice before. He was transferred early Saturday morning from the maximum-security Altiplano near Mexico City, where he escaped in 2014, to a prison in Ciudad Juarez, but the reason for the transfer is unclear. The head of the Sinola cartel gang, Guzmán faces charges from seven U.S. attorneys. The U.S. has petition for him to be extradited to the United States, and Mexican attorney general Arely Gómez González indicated in January that the drug kingpin could be extradited.
