More Rainfall Could Delay Storm Desmond Recovery

Residents in the flood-hit northwest England have barely had time to assess the damage caused by Storm Desmond but now they are being told to expect more heavy rain Wednesday night. The Environment Agency is expecting more rain throughout the evening and overnight on Wednesday, causing river levels to swell around 8 a.m. Thursday morning. The flooding is not expected to be as bad as that caused by Storm Desmond, but could hamper recovery efforts. More than 5,000 homes in Cumbria and Lancashire were flooded from the heavy rains that Storm Desmond dumped on the region over the weekend, with many towns and streets partially underwater.
