A string of heart related celebrity deaths is reminding the world that cardiovascular health is a killer.
But the recent deaths of Carrie Fisher, George Michael, and Alan Thicke have some people asking, what's the difference between heart failure, a heart attack, and cardiac arrest?
According to the American Heart Association, heart failure is a condition that occurs when the heart can no longer effectively pump blood throughout the circulatory system.
A heart attack is also caused by a circulatory problem, when circulation is blocked or cut off somewhere throughout the body.
Cardiac arrest results from electrical disturbances that interrupt the beating heart, causing it to stop suddenly.
