Three Cities Sue Defense Department Over Background Checks

Three cities have filed a federal lawsuit against the Defense Department for their handling of service member reports that disqualify gun ownership.
New York City, San Francisco and Philadelphia filed the lawsuit in Virginia for failures to report thousands of service members to a national background check system.
The issue can to the public's attention in a violent display in early November, when a gunman entered a church in Texas and killed 26 people.
The former Air Force member was found guilty of a violent crime during his service, that disqualified him to purchase a firearm.
However, his records were not sent from the Pentagon to the FBI.
