According to a report by Reuters, state media, witnesses and residents said that Syrian troops have tightened their grip on a major Palestinian refugee camp held by Islamic State militants in southern Damascus. Hundreds of civilians trapped in the camp face an uncertain future as opposition sources claimed the army was now engaged in fierce fighting with an estimated 1,500 to 2,000 militants encircled in the camp. Reuters reports that the militants, besieged in an ever shrinking area, have managed to repel several attempts to penetrate their heavily defended stronghold.
