Opposition Leader Navalny Arrested Ahead Of Putin Inauguration

According to a report by CNN, Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny was detained by police shortly after arriving at a protest against President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Saturday. On Monday, Putin will be inaugurated as President of Russia for the fourth time after a landslide re-election victory in March. Navalny, his strongest opponent, was barred from running in the race because of a past conviction, which he has called a politically motivated move to keep him off the ballot. CNN reports that Navalny has been arrested many times, including in January, when he led anti-Kremlin rallies in which he called for people to boycott the presidential election.
