According to a new study, adults that sleep seven hours each evening show the lowest excess heart age.
Studying the effects sleep on cardiovascular conditions, researchers also found that adults who sleep less than seven hours show the highest excess heart age.
But they also found that sleeping more than seven hours contributes to increasing heart age.
Excess heart age is an estimation for how old the heart appears to be, compared to how old a person is.
According to the study's author, their results are important because they demonstrate a quantitative method for determining cardiovascular risks for patients based on their sleep duration.
