According to Reuters, five parents arrested on charges of child abuse are due back in court for a hearing.
The adults and 11 children were found at a compound in New Mexico, where authorities recovered the remains of a child, who died under suspicious circumstances.
They were taken into custody over a week ago, after authorities raided the make-shift compound in the high desert north of Taos.
The court hearing was scheduled to determine if the five adults would remain in jail.
Prosecutors filed petitions with the presiding judge seeking to keep them detained without bail.
