Trump Expected To Authorize U.S. Troops To Protect Border Agents

Published on 20 Nov 2018, 2:36
President Donald Trump is likely to give U.S. troops authority to protect immigration agents stationed along the U.S. border with Mexico, says Reuters. Earlier this month, Trump denounced the approach of a caravan of migrants as an “invasion” that threatened American national security. Ahead of the midterm elections, Trump sent thousands of U.S. troops to the border to help secure it. Currently, the recently deployed troops don't have authority to protect U.S. Customs and Border Patrol personnel. An official speaking on condition of anonymity said that the new authority could be announced on Tuesday.
