China’s longest ultra-high voltage direct current (UHV DC) power transmission line runs from Jiuquan City in the northwest to Xiangtan City in central China, with a total length of 2,383 kilometers. Join CGTN's Sean Callebs to find out how power is converted from direct current, and how before reforms began 40-years ago a facility like this was unimaginable.

This livestream is part of CGTN's special "Real Time China" series to mark the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening up. CGTN crew is crossing some 2,000 kilometers from the capital Beijing to the southern city of Shenzhen by bus, inspecting along the way what has changed and what remains the same after four decades of rapid change.
